Inflation in Tool Prices

8th Jan 2019

Filling out all those ONS surveys can be pretty painful, but at least we get to look at the data. I took a quick look at how the pricing has been for powered hand tools over the last few years.

Interesting to see the prices of tools and equuipment were actually declining prior to 2016. Then a pretty big bump up in pricing in 2016, probably down to the rapid change in the value of the pound. 2018 has been pretty stable. In larger machinery and vehicles we are saying large increases this year, a lot coming from increasingly rigorous emissions requirements.

Overall prices are around 4% higher than Jan 2013.
